The ripple afghan has been a crochet icon for decades. There have been as many variations on this classic as there have been sofas to drape them over. This interesting new take came as the result of a happy stitching accident; the zig-zag edges on the sides are created by allowing your edge stitches to increase for a few rows, then cutting back in to the original count. The varying widths of the stripes keep it interesting to work on, and the whimsical medallions on the edges are a fresh, fun alternative to fringe.
