Why should you advertise with Tangled?
We know every dollar counts, that you might find it hard to justify taking a part of your advertising budget and entrusting it to a new web publication. We know it, because we ARE you. We have owned, managed, or worked in small independent yarn shops for over 20 years. We have been creating designs for sale for 8 years. We know it takes great designs to sell yarn, and we are working hard to provide an attractive, rewarding, and creative forum for amazing designers to showcase their work to your customers. With direct link ads on every design, it will be easy for your customers to quickly gratify their yarn needs for that lovely design they need to make RIGHT NOW… well, as soon as they can tear open the box of lovely yarn that you send to them.
What makes Tangled different from other web magazines?
There are several amazing web publications out there right now, and they do what they do very well. We refer customers to them frequently. In our daily experience in a LYS, we have discovered a few areas we would like to cover more thoroughly than has previously been done in this format.
-Beautiful, unique, and accurate crochet designs will be featured just as prominently as knit designs. We will also feature one or two designs in each issue which can be done in either knit or crochet, with similar results in the finished piece.
-Video technique support will be available for unusual or difficult techniques, accessible directly from the pattern in which a given technique appears. As time allows, we will expand our video support library to include basic tutorials, providing you and your customers a convenient, easily accessible resource for assistance 24/7.
-Community-building projects will be part of many issues. Knit- or crochet-alongs featuring Tangled designs, mystery projects, friendly competitions, and idea/project exchanges that are fun and encourage fellowship and camaraderie will be an integral part of Tangled increasing the audience that will view your ad issue after issue.
How long will my ad be visible on Tangled?
That depends on which advertising placement option you choose. Ads on issue covers, pattern index pages, and individual designs will remain visible and clickable for as long as Tangled exists, even after those pages have been archived. Ads placed on the design archive page will be visible while the issue it was placed in is live.
How much does it cost to advertise with Tangled?
We know we have some traffic-building to do, so we feel it would be fair for our rates to reflect this for the first 4 issues of Tangled. We are offering substantially discounted rates for ads placed in the Fall or Winter 2010 and Spring or Summer 2011 issues. Here are the some of the basics….
Issue Cover: 6 spots available, with random rotation. Live for 3 months, permanently viewable in archive. $800
Pattern/Features Index pages: 4 spots per page available. Live for 3 months, permanently viewable in archive. $500
Free pattern sponsorship: One spot per pattern, perpetually viewable and clickable. $200
Pay-per download pattern sponsorship: One spot per pattern. Permanently viewable and clickable. $150
Article/Editorial sponsorship: One spot per article, permanently viewable and clickable $75
Archive Index page: 6 spots available, with random rotation. Viewable/clickable for one live issue only. $400
Yarn sponsorship page: Features yarns used in a given issue. 8 spots available. Random rotation, permanently viewable/clickable. $200
Design services and ad update work: $50 per hour for design services, $25 per hour for update work.
